On the 28th of June 2006, when the summer monsoon is steady, The Swedish Ship Götheborg continued into the South China Sea. During four weeks the crew keept a sharp look out for pirates and typhoons. With modern equipment and support the dangers can be kept under control. In the middle of July 2006 The Swedish Ship arrived at the so called Tiger Mouth, where the Pearl river enters the sea. After lowering the masts in order to sail under power cables and bridges The Swedish Ship Götheborg was going up river to the historic goal, Guangzhou (Canton). The city gave an outstanding reception for the first Swedish East Indiaman merchant vessel sighted for nearly 200 years.

Arrival Shanghai: 29 August 2006
After a couple of fantastic weeks of celebrations in Guangzhou The Swedish Ship Götheborg sailed northward through the Formosa strait to Shanghai before the monsoon changed. The trip toke about 10 days and the Götheborg arrived in Shanghai in the end of August 2006. In Shanghai The Swedish Ship Götheborg was used for business meetings and culture events. Shanghai is a sister city of the city of The Swedish Ship Götheborg, which guaranteed a sterling visit.
