JOIN THE CREW!
Götheborg is back in her homeport in Gothenburg. At the moment it's not decided when she will set sail for her next expedition.

If you are interested in sailing with us, please read more about life onboard here and send an e-mail to marielouise.edholm@soic.se. We will save your contact details and get back to you in connection to expeditions or other activities.

The trainees aboard the Swedish Ship Götheborg consists of 50 persons. During the expeditions the trainees are replaced in almost every port. They consist of a mix of people from all ages, level of skill and interest. Everybody contributes with his/hers unique experiences.

Duties onboard
Your main duty as a trainee is to manage the ship´s sails and rig after instructions from your mast captain (team leader). The 18th century rig makes it necessary to climb up the 47 meter tall rig in all kinds of weather.

We work by a three shift system which means that the trainees are divided into three watches (teams). This means that each watch works four hours and then is free for eight hours. During your watch you will be assigned different posts, for example standing by the wheel (steer the ship), lookout or firewatch. You will also assist with the cooking in the galley (kitchen). Life aboard also require daily duties as cleaning and tidying up.

At the ports you will contribute to spread the 18th century feeling. You will be working in old fashion clothes with guiding, ticket- and souvenir sales, waiting and being available at the different events around the ship.
