Today the weather has changed somewhat. It has been quite windy and when our colours were hoisted at0800 avery clear rainbow was seen. Later in the day there were some showers, but between them the sky was clear. We had “open ship" all day and all in all we had 3,120 visitors who were shown the Swedish Ship Götheborg. The wind was really going for the “tent town" on the quay and more than one tent had to be secured again to prevent damage. This kind of wind could on the other hand be very useful in a couple of weeks time when we leave, especially so since its direction corresponds to abaft the beam on starboard side when sailing from Port Elizabeth to Fremantle, Australia.

The crew receives a lot of tourist invitations, some free, some at a very reasonable fare. One is for a visit to Kvagga Kamma Game Farm, where we can go by car the day after tomorrow to see the animals and then have dinner, a get-together and transport back to the ship. Information is that this farm is home to giraffs and we shall see if that is correct. Another offer is for diving excursions. Sometimes it is hard to pick which invitation is the most interesting.

Today we received copies of yesterday´s editions of the Gothenburg newspapers GT and GP, the first ones since we left Cape Town. It is strange that news from home have become so uninteresting, but that may of course depend on the fact that this voyage in itself is prime time news.

One of rather few days with dull and rainy weather.
Taking a tour with our MOB-boat as we are waiting to sail into the port of Nelson Mandela Bay.
