Work on making the Swedish Ship Götheborg lighter by sending ballast ashore continues. And it feels as if we have come a fairly long way in our preparations for the journey to Australia. A special sort of preparation is that all deck-hands and some officers have been over to the next bay, Jeffrey´s Bay, to learn the noble art of surfing. This is a must when coming to Australia, we understand. Otherwise the watches off duty have spent most of their time taking stock of the flora and fauna of South Africa in various safari parks.

We have also arrived at the “V" days during our portcall in Port Elizabeth. That means the Volvo Days. They started their three-day arrangement by opening the famous ice-bar at the quay. Then a local group of circus artists gave a magnificent performance in the rigging. We only hope that our deck-hands are not inspired by this when they are going up in the rigging again.

The flow of visitors continues, even if it obviously is a difference between weekdays and weekends. Today another 1,397 persons took the chance of visiting our beautiful ship.
