The day started with the watch as usual preparing the Swedish Ship Götheborg for “open ship". Today we had 3.790 visitors, the best result so far during this portcall. To lure still more people to the harbour area, a wrestling tournament had been arranged in a ring beside the ship, an event probably most appreciated by children under 12. Crew members off duty have been on safaris and some of them have visited the surfer paradise Jeffry´s Bay for the second time.

The midship watch, on duty until 1600, had quite a job readying the ship for going to sea tomorrow. The guns are to be readied and secured, the sails furled, searchlights and hi-fi equipment taken down. Tomorrow she is to be starting ship for this year´s Ironman Event. We will fire a broadside at 0700 with starboard guns and then this contest will be in full swing. It is a triathlon, that is the participants are competing in three events - swimming, bicycle riding and running. During the rest of they we are to adjust our magnetic compasses and also the log, time permitting.
