The day started with South African TV sending live from the Swedish Ship Götheborg. Then it was back to business as usual, with “open ship" and unloading of ballast. Now all ballast to be unloaded is ashore on pallets, to be transported to prospective buyers.

The mainsail was taken ashore for an overhaul and at the same time the mizzen boom got a new layer of lacquer. Parts of the crew have given their knowledge of the noble art of surfing a finishing touch, others have seen and ticked off one or two more of “the big five" animals.

Right now, shortly after 1800, there is a drum lesson on deck, provided by two local musicians. There are already a few drums on board, well used by self-taught owners. Having taken a look on deck one could fear that the number and sound of these instruments are to increase considerably. It is probably about time to get ear-muffs.

The crew on board the Swedish Ship Götheborg get good climbing skills.
All ropes on board are made from hemp, fabricated by hand.
