Most of the crew have been ashore to celebrate Human Rights Day. They left at 0730 to have breakfast at the Town Hall. Then they travelled around in open double-deckers in the shantytowns and suburbs of Port Elizabeth, to listen to speeches and take part in the celebrations in various ways. At about 1600 they returned to the Swedish Ship Götheborg, somewhat overwhelmed by all the happenings.

On board it has been a quiet day without visitors. The few of us left were cleaning up and watching the gangway in the company of the chaps guarding the tent village on the quay.
