When we received our morning papers today there were of course a lot of articles about the celebration of Human Rights Day. It was a great feeling reading about the appreciation of our participation during the day. To a Swede it is rather difficult to grasp how much this day means to people down here, but touring a number of memorials in the shantytowns and sharing the day withe their inhabitants made a deep impression on everyone of the crew taking part in it.

It has been a busy day on board and one can really feel that we are closing in on our departure. Sails that have been down for repair are bent on again, tons of provisions are taken aboard and all stores are to be filled before our journey across the Indian Ocean. And parallel to this we have “open ship" in the days and VIP-dinners in the evenings. It will actually be a relief of sorts to put away the book and turn off the reading-lamp tonight.

The people in Port Elizabeth can enjoy the view of our ship for a couple of days more.
