Today, just like yesterday, we had an opportunity to take a swim shortly before lunch. It was much appreciated since it was very hot working on deck and below. An ice-water fountain has now been installed and it is more or less constantly frequented.

At 1500 our captain led our first general meeting on board, something that will take place at least once a week on our continued voyage. Everyone on board was informed about what is to happen during the next few days and about the visit to Port Elizabeth. Before the meeting newly baked vanilla buns were served with the afternoon coffee. Our chefs are a credit to their profession, they are told again and again.

A small crab has been reported on board, possibly coming aboard with one of our swimmers. That is also the only strange animal we have seen. Word is that there were cockroaches on board during port-calls on the first leg from Gothenburg, but since then these have either disappeared or keep themselves invisible.

Happy faces on board!
The new crew had to prove their skills during the 4-day-long (short?) leg between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth!
