Comments:
Some experiences on board cannot be communicated fairly, not in writing, nor in pictures or movies. The rising of the moon last night is one example. The sun had set, we were sailing east under a starlit sky without a cloud. No sounds or lights were disturbing us as the Swedish Ship Götheborg was plowing her way through the water nearly without a sound, at least as heard from the upper deck. The Southern Cross was clearly visible in the Milky Way and the dark sky was as cut from a manual of the stars in the southern hemisphere.

Suddenly a little yellow light is seen at the horizon on the starboard bow. It looks like a fire growing stronger and could be interpreted as a ship increasingly on fire. But in a couple of minutes the moon is coming up, not a full moon, but nearly. The light makes the sea turn into colour, like silver being spread over increasingly larger areas, and the starlit sky looses its crystal clear structure at the same time. All this is happening within a few minutes and one is just standing there, speechless, before this beautiful sight. That is the kind of experiences one can have on board the Swedish Ship Götheborg.
