Comments:
Last night and this morning we had plenty of rain. All cabins on gundeck and higher up experienced water coming dripping, flowing and sometimes even rushing. It is finding its way through narrow openings in the deck and the hull, down along ribs, beams and bulkheads, and seems to have a preference for our bunks. Creativity in finding ways to protect oneself from the water is excellent. To trust the caulking of hull and deck is quite inadeqaute and would mean capitulation. When the dripping is rather limited, it is enough to put some sucking material from inside into deck seams and other openings, covering it with tape. In some cabins one can see plastic bags mounted to cover the inside of the hull, like turned-around roofing-tiles. In other cabins sheeting has been put up, sometimes in combination with fans mounted so as to make the moisture evaporate. The most spectacular solutions may be regarded as aqueducts. Using ropes or a twisted sheet the water is led to the floor or to a bucket.

But the rain is stopping now and the days of rain causing us problems have not been many. On the other hand it should be here, south of latitude 40 and north of Kerguelen that one is supposed to experience gales, rain and high seas. A weather not very different from that on the Swedish west coast right now, according to our informations.
