The doubling of the southernmost tip of Africa - Cape Agulhas - came shortly after four p.m. and that means we have left the Atlantic and are now in the Indian Ocean. The visible change was not as marked as the rapid increase in sea temperature earlier. In a very short time it increased from some 13 degrees centigrade to more than 20 degrees. The weather gods have been nice to us today. The wind is coming from an optimal direction and at a speed which permits us to sail at some 7 knots with the foresail only - and three reefs tucked in! And the morning rain we came to know in Cape Town did not materialize.

The afternoon coffee was driven below, from sundeck to the cabin. Everyone was anxious to see to it that the blueberry cake and ice-cream provided by the galley was not blown overboard.

Being a sailor can be a hard job.
