The day before Christmas Eve carried with it, just like any day except Sunday, a varied set of work. One of the quarterdeck ladders had an overhaul, the deck its usual scraping and scrubbing routine and a number of smaller tasks were carried out at the usual pace on deck and below. It may very well be that quite a few of us are now hoping for a bit of rest during the holidays. And it goes without saying that the forthcoming holiday is already putting its mark on the general mood on board. Also a great many Christmas greetings with accompanying photos have been sent via the Internet. With a little more than ten days to go, the student crew is also take every opportunity to get as much tan as possible, before going home to the snow and cold early January. The evening was closed with an hour of decorating the gundeck. Tables and everything else were thoroughly cleaned, awaiting tomorrow´s celebrations. To inspire, some mulled wine was served and quickly consumed. Our ship´s cinema showed a movie about a rather wicked Santa Claus. But many went to bed early, to make Christmas Eve come faster. Just like when you were a child.
