Tomorrow we will be leaving Port Elizabeth, a town we have come to love for its hospitality, fantastic nature and not least excellent food. Right now we are working hard to get the ship ready for departure, stowing away all last-minute arriving equipment and provisions needed for our journey to Australia. The question is where to put it all. Wellingtons and sheet must mingle with soft drink cans and detergents. We shall have to work to the last minute before leaving quay at 1200 tomorrow.

In South Africa autumn us actually here, but it does not feel that way to us people from other latitudes. This weather corresponds very much to a beautiful Swedish summer and it has been blessing us also this last day in port. Crew off duty have taken the opportunity of giving their sun-tan a final finish on the beaches or learning more surfing tricks.

We have been here for so long and now when departure is a reality, feelings are mixed. It is sad to leave all new friends, but at the same time the “real" sailing begins tomorrow. We shall see how many will be waving goodbye from the quay.

The sunsets over the Indian Ocean are said to be fantastic.
For 49 days we will sleep side by side with almost no space between us.
