Continued sailing for Recife in Brazil. Fair winds during the day, if not from the best of directions. In spite of this, we are making about five knots which is more than enough to get us there in time. Naturally we are also gearing up now shortly before the next port-call, to have all work on board ready in time. Below they are painting and cleaning, shelves and other things are being manufactured and painted in the correct colour to suit the environment. On deck work goes on to get the lightning-conductors in place on each mast. Also our two kedge-anchors are painted and placed one on each foremast chain. Work getting the port side bumper guards for our longboats ready continues. Unfortunately the weather is a bit of a hindrance, since it must be rather calm when working outside the railing under sail. We also preparing the visit to Recife. We have established contact with our agent and questions are going out and coming in all the time. Before we can go ashore and take part in the welcoming ceremony, immigration police, health authorities and customs must be satisfied. Our programme being planned on a minute by minute basis, we must be ahead of things.
