In the morning we had various groups of visitors, some of them school classes invited by SKF and the town of Recife. And as usual there were also unannounced visitors who were taken care of expediently. About an hour late our first delivery of provisions also arrived. With great enthusiasm but unfortunately rather limited knowledge of English, the ship chandler´s purchasing assistant had taken care of our orders. Not everything came out as it should, one could say. The prize-winner was no doubt 150 kilos of dried, salted cod instead of frozen fillets of cod. It will definitely be returned, come Monday.

In the middle of the day a reception and lunch hosted by Hamburg Süd, a business associate of the Port of Gothenburg. A gathering of happy people and high spirits rendered it a much appreciated and successful event. To go with it food prepared by SOIC´s chef Cecilia who has come to Recife and cold beverages to fend off the heat served by charming local staff. No doubt one of the happiest crowds on board so far.

Afternoon and evening it was “open ship". Since we are just open, it is impossible to know how many we have on board. The queue on the quay was however several hundred metres long and that would suffice to fill the ship for hours to come. As during our previous “open ships" all visitors are very happy, nice, curious and interested. In a country like Brazil it is pure pleasure to have “open ship" for several thousand people a day.

Comments: Well moored starboard side to quay at Marco Zero, Recife, Brazil

Long queues at the square by Marco Zero in Recife.
When the queues were long we gave children and elderly people water so they were able to manage the long waiting time.

Queue, queue and more queue!
