Sunday and the last “open ship" of this port-call. In honour of this we are open longer, ten hours. We can also state that our visitor record for one day was broken by a wide margin. No less than 6,588 persons came for a last chance to see our beautiful ship. Yesterday´s “open ship" counted a modest 2,820 visitors. On the other hand, it was only five hours. This implies without much doubt that the Swedish Ship, East Indiaman “Götheborg" is one of the main attractions in Recife. But then we have not included the beaches. It would be a bit hard to compete with them.
We have had no sponsor arrangements during the day, concentrating on “open ship". The newly arrived students not on watch have obviously taken the opportunity to see as much as possible of Recife. As far as we know this port-call has also been without major incidents. One stolen rucksack and one attempt at theft is all. So with two days left in port, everyone is in great shape.
Monday will see a bit of a “Grand finale", apart from the events on our day of departure. We are to take loads of provions on board for the next leg of the journey and there will also be sponsor activities. Volvo is the Sponsor having the ship at their disposal tomorrow and the company will among other things host a reception and a farewell dinner. At the same time, the Swedish Embassy and SOIC will host a farewell reception in a building next to the ship. So it will obviously be a busy day tomorrow.
