The day before cast-off. Much time spent waiting for deliveries from the local ship-chandler. The provisions, chiefly, have arrived every now and then, and quite a few times there have been mistakes. But rather than admit an error or bring a sample, they have simply just delivered and crossed their fingers, hoping it would be correct after all. We now know that was not the case. The last deliveries are due tomorrow before we sail and what remains now for us, is to cross our fingers.

Our sponsors have put their mark on the afternoon and evening. Firstly we prepared the gun deck for dinner and also the quay. Our first guests were the Swedish Embassy and SOIC. There was also a reception with singing and hurdy-gurdy accompaniment. Before the reception our guests also had a guided tour on board.

The next event was arranged by Volvo that had invited customers and business relations to dinner on board. It started with a get-together on the quay, a speach by a ship´s representative included, and then on board for a guided tour and dinner. Spirits were high and it was a very enjoyable evening on board. When coming up from the gun deck two Volvo trucks had been driven on to the quay and were waiting there illuminated. Happy guests left the ship to inspect the trucks.
