Nature-wise this morning was dominated by a flock of dolphins that were swimming around the ship. Since we have had somewhat higher waves today, they have had quite a lot of take-off waves for their jumps. Some straight, some pirouettes, some alone and some in group. The dolphins seem to have a joyous time in our bow wave and are also spreading their joy onto the ship. As someone expressed it: “It´s enough to see them, to feel happy".

In the afternoon we have had our first fire mustering on this leg. The crew lined up around the capstan and were counted. Our two fire detachments and their equipment and tasks were demonstrated. Fire drills and other safety exercises like man overboard (MOB) are prioritized and carried out regularly. Safety must always be on top.

Work on the ship and training of the new crew have started for real now and today is also the first day after Recife that we are sailing without the help of the engine. Work right now is mostly painting, getting oakum into the deck seams and other small tasks. The rest of the time available is utilized for training in the rigging and with the sails, so as to permit us to sail with all sails set as quickly as posssible.
