Since 0800 this morning sailing in convoy through the Suez Canal. We are sailing last in the convoy. Have passed Great Bitter Lake. Expected arrival in Port Said this afternoon.

An absolutely marvellous experience going through the Suez Canal. Amazing construction. We are passing in radiant sunshine. One pilot and four civil servants on board.
