More rain and foul weather, but at last the wind has, as promised, turned to the northwest. And so, much regretted by the technicians, our main engine was stopped and we set sail once again. This day we have rushed forward at eight knots and we are slowly but surely covering the remaining distance. In a couple of days we will be half-way.

There are two things to be rather sure of on board the East Indiaman right now. One is that the only thing your see on deck is water and nothing but water. The other is that work is always going on here on the ship. The hardening in of the rigging is all but ready and this very important task has required many a day´s good work. At the same time the entire rigging is inspected to make sure that nothing is weared out or damaged.

As for the inside of the ship work goes on to make best possible use of the limited space there. Right now book-shelves are being made, to be put up next to the main cabin. The idea is to put the main part of the ship´s library there. To further a good nigh´s sleep and the working conditions in general, new leaks detected following the profuse raining are caulked to the best of our abilities. And those of us who have been sleeping in our oilskins are of course all the more grateful.

We are lucky to have advanced machinery on board when the wind is not enough.
But we are in fact sailing a lot!
Isn't it cosy at the captain's balcony?
