Comments:
Two thirds of this leg behind us. The Swedish Ship Götheborg now has 585 left of the 1,671 nautical miles between Fremantle and Jakarta. That implies that the East Indiaman is ahead of schedule. The winds are better now and our ship is making five knots according to the log. The Indonesian Navy has promised to escort us as we approach the Sunda Straits.
At around eleven a.m. yesterday we got company from a big flock of dolphins that quickly caught up with us and started to play around the prow. The best act was when one of them - three or four times - stood on its fin tail with the entire body above the water. The crew got the impression that she/he wanted to really say hello and thank you for all the applauses. That was really impressing!
The heat is here and there no way to escape it. Yesterday however we had a lukewarm rain cooling down the deck somewhat. The water heater is broken but that does not imply much as to personal hygiene, even if there are some mumbling about winter bath!
