Comments:
Sunday and the King´s birthday. Aft we have the Swedish colours hoisted and congratulations have been sent from the Swedish Ship Götheborg. At the fore we have set the sprit topsail again after the sailmakers made it a bit shorter and the yard has been scraped, polished, painted and tarred according to its various parts. Not that this sail is needed, now that we are making good headway and with these winds we will be able to anchor off Cape Naturaliste within the week.
Once again we “lost" one hour; the ship´s clock has been set yet 1 hour forward, to correspond to the longitude we are passing. Later one we will adjust it one additional hour forward, to land on Australian time.
The sailmaker school carries on. Now one can increasingly see what is being manufactured, so-called ditty-bags. Some are ready with the bag itself and now all that remains is to equip it with handles. A ditty-bag made according to traditions and not smeared by the tar on board could very well have a place in a beach or yacht fashion show. Undoubtedly we shall see a contest about who made the best bag.
This afternoon we shall have a Walpurgis night celebration on board. Our ship´s carpenter is building a “synthetic" Walpurgis bonfire around the capstan. And since it is Sunday, we shal also have some kind of entertainment, yet to be announced.
