On March 1st we opened for applications to sail along as a deckhand during the summer’s coming expedition.
“You absolutely don’t need any sailing experience. If you are healthy and in fairly good condition, you can apply for a position aboard” says Emanuel Persson, expedition leader at the Swedish East India Company.
It is for the second summer in a row the Swedish ship Götheborg is heading out on a European tour. Among other things, the ship will be a part of the Tall Ships Races 2013 and the French maritime festival, L’armada De Rouen, which is one of the largest maritime festivals in the world.
The ship will leave the home port of Gothenburg in early May and one of the first voluntary legs goes to Oslo where we take part in the celebration of the Norwegian national day, May 17th. After that we sail down to Landskrona and celebrate the 600 year jubilee of the city and continue to sail down to Rouen in France, before it’s time for the start of the Tall Ships Races, in Århus, Denmark.
