Szczecin | 3 August – 6 August |

Between the 3rd and the 6th of August, Szczecin are hosting the final of the Tall Ships Races 2013 – an event that will attract some of the largest and most beautiful tall ships in the world. The Swedish ship Götheborg arrives at lunch time on the 3rd of August.

The Tall Ships Races is the world’s largest international sail race – a combination of competition and “cruise in company” –  friendly sailing together. This year the start goes from Århus in Denmark and passes Helsinki (Finland) and Riga (Latvia) on it’s way towards the finishing line in Szczecin, Poland. The whole race takes about a month – the start is July 4th and the ships are expected to reach the finishing line in Szczecin on August 3rd. There will be great festivities in every port.

The main thought behind the Tall Ships Races is to encourage friendship among young people from different countries and with different social backgrounds, while also training them in the art of sailing. Therefore at least 50 percent of the crew on the participating vessels must be aged between 15 and 25 – so called trainees/deckhands. Between 3 000 and 4 000 youths participate in the competition every year.

The Ship is open to the Public:
Saturday | 3 August | 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Sunday | 4 August | 10:00am – 2:00pm
Monday | 5 August | 1:00pm – 8:00pm
