Volvo Ocean Race | 21 – 28 June

The Swedish Ship Götheborg will participate at the final destination of the Volvo Ocean Race at Frihamnen in Gothenburg, June 21 to 28. The ship will participate in the opening ceremony of the event and will be docked at the event area of Volvo Ocean Race. The Swedish Ship Götheborg will also be the starting ship for the final race In Port Race, which runs from Älvsborg fästning into Frihamnen on 27 June.

When the world’s toughest sailing competition has it’s final destination in Gothenburg in June 2015, it will be a festival in the area of Frihamnen. The Swedish Ship Götheborg will be docked in the event area from 21 to 28 June and will be open to the public.

The actual finish of the Volvo Ocean Race is expected to be on Sunday, June 21 in Frihamnen in Gothenburg and the ship will participate in the opening ceremony of the event. But the race does not end until next weekend with a final race, known as the In Port Race, in the middle of the Port of Gothenburg on 27 June. The Swedish Ship Götheborg will then cast off from the event area and be the starting ship for the In Port Race, and then return to the dock in Frihamnen.

After the Volvo Ocean Race event, the ship will remain at the dock in Frihamnen, on June 29, to rigg down before the passage up the river and into Lake Vänern.
