Here follows important information and details about things concerning your application as deckhand on The Swedish Ship Götheborg during Expedition China 2014.
During the Expedition China 2014 tickets for transportation to and from off – and signing on will be included. Transport will take place jointly and SOIC is responsible for the booking. SOIC will provide the following tickets:

Introduction and overnight
SOIC considering arranging introduction followed by overnight stay in Gothenburg the day before the common arrival date. More information is coming soon.
Definition of dates
Announced dates of sailing legs are provisional and relate to the days for sign on and sign off.
As a deckhand on board Götheborg, you will be insured. The insurance is included and will automatically be subscribed by SOIC. More information is coming soon.
Medical certificate, seaman’s book and declaration of health
As a Deckhand on board Götheborg, neither medical certificate nor a seaman’s book is required. However, you have to fill in the health declaration, available under “Documents” when logged in on www.soic.se/application. “Documents” will be available when you have been accepted to an event.
If participating as a Experienced Deckhand, you will have to fill in the health declaration on www.soic.se/application but you must also hold a medical certificate for seafarers (unrestricted trade), a seafarer’s book and a Basic Safety Training (STCW). Any costs for providing the documents will be charged by the Experiened Deckhand himself.
The health declaration must be filled out truthfully and hesitations regarding a deckhand’s health will be assessed by SOIC’s Medical Director.
