The Swedish Ship Götheborg is a tremendous venue for celebrations such as weddings and christenings. If there is a ceremony it is held on the sundeck, and lunch or dinner, with or without an 18th century theme, is served on the gun deck. Festive, different and memorable. A venue on the pier is suitable for dancing and continued partying.
Our deckhands in their period costumes are both our guides and our waiting staff at dinner. The ship’s various spaces and areas are ideal for different events, and Gothenburg harbour makes a magnificent backdrop whatever the occasion.
Our chef Johan Kjellberg prepares your meal while you mingle up on the weather deck. Here are a few ideas to consider for your next celebration.
Over the years we have been fortunate to be the venue for many weddings and, therefore, have contacts with officiators of both religious and civil ceremonies.
Ideally the ceremony itself is held up on the sundeck, and is rounded off with a toast to the happy couple and some light bites. The wedding breakfast is served down on the gun deck, where images can be shown and music played during the meal.
The party can then continue in our exhibition area on the pier with dancing and an open bar.
Whatever the reason for holding a party aboard the Swedish Ship Götheborg, we can promise you a truly memorable occasion.
You might choose a guided tour incorporating some try-your-hand activities before the meal, or you may prefer a brief lecture about how the ship came to be and its voyages.
Dinner is served on the gun deck which has capacity for 80 seated guests. If you are hosting a reception for a larger group, the ship can welcome 150 people.
Saffron-scented fish soup, two or three-course menus, or a general stand-up mingle – the ship’s galley can deliver!
