Working week, w.28 CANCELED

CANCELED! Would you like to help us with the maintenance of the East Indiaman Götheborg while learning about the construction, maintenance and sailing of a 18th century ship? Then you are warmly welcome as a volunteer during our working weeks. In addition to rig training, you get to practice how to work with ropes and tie knots every day. Every day there is also a lecture or practical training, where you will learn more in-depth knowledge of a subject concerning maintenance or craft on board. If the weather permits, we launch the ships boats and row or sail with them one of the days. Usually there is a theme on the work week, a special area on the ship that needs extra maintenance at the moment.

For those traveling to Gothenburg to attend our working week there is the possibility of sleeping on board the ship. We offer lunch for free every day and work clothes can be borrowed. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 16:30.

School holiday activity at the East Indiaman Götheborg

This year we have fun school holiday activities on board the East Indiaman Götheborg! Come and paint porcelain with us and experience a guided tour with try-on features, you can for example try to lie in a hammock. Porcelain was an important part of the precious cargo that the East Indiamen brought with them from China in the 18th century. The blue-white porcelain was used as a daily porcelain by rich nobles and citizens. On our porcelain painting you can paint your own version of the blue-white porcelain and of course you can bring your tea cup/plate home.

Date: 12-16 February (v.7)
Time: 11:00-15:00
Price: Children 7-16 years: 60 SEK, Adults: 120 SEK, Children 0-6 years: Free of charge.
The price includes a guided tour with try-out features and a tea cup/plate to paint on.

Volunteers are wanted - Removal of the cover

It's spring. We celebrate with the removal of the ship's winter cover so that she can once again blossom in all her splendor! We will climb on the stand that the cover lies on and lock all the buckles that hold it and then we fold the big cover pieces up on the stand. On day three  a mobile crane will come to lift the chapel on the dock and we will fold them well so they fit in the pallets they are kept in during the summer. Then, the work begins to unscrew the stand and as the arcs become free we will carry them ashore. This is a fun but sometimes heavy work and the more we will be to help, the easier it goes.
