Payment agreement

The fee to participate as a deckhand on the Swedish ship Götheborg is split in two payments:

1. Sign up fee

2. Final payment

Sign up fee

In connection with the admission notification SOIC Ship Management AB takes out the first part of the payment (here called “sign up fee”). The sign up fee is 20% of the sailing legs total amount and shall be paid to SOIC Ship Management AB within 7 days after receiving the admission e-mail. When paying the sign up fee the deckhand is guaranteed his/her offered position and obliges to pay the next part in accordance with the agreement.

Please note that the sign up fee is non refundable!

Final payment

As soon as the sign up fee is paid, the deckhand is asked to pay the additional 80% amount (“final payment”). This payment shall be made to SOIC Ship Management AB within 30 days. If the deckhand does not pay the amount for the voyage according to the agreement, SOIC Ship Management AB has the right to cancel the agreement and keep the sign up fee. If the deckhand is accepted to the discount places, the final payment must be made two weeks before the expedition starts.

Cancellation rules

When cancelling earlier then 60 days before the day of departure (signing on) the whole amount is refunded. When cancelling later then 60 days but earlier then 20 days before the sign on date 50 % of the end payment is refunded. When cancelling later then 20 days before signing on, SOIC Ship Management AB has the right to keep the whole amount. The cancellation rules are valid in case of death, urgent illness other than covid-19 or an accident that occurs to the deckhand himself/herself, his/her partner, children, parents, sisters, brothers or grandparents. On cancellation a doctor’s certificate from a non-biased doctor should always be attached.

Covid-19

Due to the Corona virus (Covid-19) we have amended our cancellation policy: If a deckhand has received a positive test result for covid-19, or a doctor’s certificate from a non-biased doctor with corona related symptoms, seven days or less prior to signing on, payements will be refunded. SOIC Ship Management AB will not reimburce extended costs, such as travel costs etc.

 

In case SOIC Ship Management AB needs to cancel the Expedition 2021, or one of the sailing legs because of the corona virus (Covid-19), SOIC Ship Management AB will issue a full refund but, will not cover extended costs such as travel costs etc.
